ACTION 8 UPDATE: Student detained after threat made to Opp City Schools
Action 8 News is monitoring a developing situation in Opp, where schools were put on lockdown Monday morning.
The school system said the lockdown was a precaution after officials were alerted to a potentially threatening situation. The situation wasn’t described in detail.
Monday afternoon, school officials said a thorough search of the schools was conducted by law enforcement and upon investigation, it was determined that the threat was a hoax.
They say a student was detained by law enforcement and turned over to the Department of Youth Services.
