Montgomery 5th grade students take part in I-LEAD celebration

Fifth-grade students in Montgomery Public Schools got to enjoy the end of the school year at Riverfront Park after completing an important program.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office hosted its 9th annual I-LEAD celebration for students who completed the program this academic year.

The I-LEAD program helps children understand the importance of getting a good education and making the right decisions as they get older.

At the celebration, the students got to ride on the Harroitt II riverboat and saw law enforcement demonstrations.

“They’ve done great,” Montgomery County District Attorney Daryl Bailey said. “We’ve had about 25 classes with them over the school year and we’ve grown to know them and be mentors to them. So this is just the time for us to celebrate and come together, and just one more time try to give them some important information.”

The celebration had been on pause since 2020 due to the COVID pandemic, but has finally resumed this school year.
