Barbour County man killed in Pike County crash

23pikecountyA single-vehicle crash in Pike County has claimed the life of a Louisville man.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says the crash happened just before 7:00 a.m. on Alabama 130 near the 5 mile marker, approximately 6 miles east of Banks.

Officials say 66-year-old James Otis McCray was fatally injured when the 2000 Honda CR-V he was driving left the roadway, struck a posted traffic sign and overturned before going into a river.

ALEA says McCray was not using a seatbelt at the time of the crash. McCray was pronounced dead on the scene.

ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating the cause of the accident.
