Academy Sports helping Alabamians stay safe on Waterways
The summer season is just around the corner and we know that that means a lot of fun in the sun and a lot of lake and water related activities. That’s why Academy Sports has donated 300 floating devices to the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to help
ensure Alabamians remain safe on the water.
Taking safety precautions on waterways such as rivers and lakes is just as important as wearing a safety belt while in a vehicle. The life jacket loaner program helps Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources officers ensure that everyone can be safe on the water even when they forget to pack enough life jackets.
Free loaner life jackets are placed at each state park. “This opportunity with Academy will allow us to put some loaner stations at the lakes at our state parks for people who aren’t as comfortable around the water or are not good swimmers to be able to enjoy the water but to do it safely, says Commissioner Chris Blankenship, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
