Selma man shot and killed in Valley Grande

A murder investigation is underway in Dallas County — following a shooting early Monday morning in Valley Grande.

Sheriff Mike Granthum says the shooting happened after midnight at a house on the 3700 block of Hilandale Drive.

Granthum says 21 year old Genesis Barnett of Selma was shot and killed. And 19 year old — Remarion Coleman of Selma — has been arrested and charged in the case.

“All indications lead there was some kind of argument. There’s a small, little party going on at the house. One subject kind of strayed away from the area and the next thing you know gunshots. Over 20 gunshots were fired. It’s crazy. In a neighborhood,” said Granthum.

The investigation remains ongoing — and more arrests in the case — are possible.
