Board of Education Employee Retires after 30 Years

Lillie Rudolph is retiring after more than 30 years of service to the Alabama Public School System.

Mrs. Rudolph began her tenure with the Lowndes County Board of Education. Serving the parents and students of the Head Start Program as the Policy Council President. As president she advocated from state to state and in Washington D.C. speaking to legislators to impress the importance of the Head Start Program.

As time moved on so did Mrs. Rudolph– from the Lowndes County Board of Education to Butler County. Beginning a new path as a School Bus Driver, a position that allowed her to work less hours and perform duties more  closely with her own young children.

“My children! I wanted to be closer to my children and my children was in Butler County. I wanted to be closer to them everyday as much as possible. So, that’s what brought me from Lowndes County Head Start to Butler County, education”, says Mrs. Rudolph.

From classroom aide to Policy Council President, Substitute Teacher and School Bus Driver, Mrs. Rudolph has contributed more than 30 years to the Alabama Public School System.

“We’ll be forever indebted to her for her service but really for her love and her compassion. You don’t replace that. You don’t replace thirty years of experience. Whether it’s a teacher, bus driver or any other employee but she’s just a dedicated person says”, Mr. Joseph Eiland Butler County Superintendent of Schools.

And now after 30 plus years serving the Alabama Public School System- she says

it’s time to pass the torch.
