Auburn sixth-grade student wins national TV cooking competition

A sixth-grade student from Auburn has won this season’s title on TV’s “MasterChef Junior.”

Bryson McGlynn took home the trophy and $100,000 in the Season 9 finale that aired Monday night on Fox.

Bryson, also known as “cheese curd,” is a student at Fox Run School in Opelika. He already had a taste of national fame from his cooking videos that he posts on social media.

He impressed the judges, including famous TV chef Gordon Ramsay, with his three-course meal during the two-part show finale.

Bryson says his biggest inspiration and love for cooking comes from his father, Mike McGlynn, who is known as “Cheese.”

“It honestly was amazing to be on the show,” Bryson told Action 8 News. “It was my life dream and it was so cool. I met so many awesome chefs, of course, all the judges which was really cool, and one big thing I’m going to take from the show is a lot more responsibility.”

All of us at Action 8 News say congratulations to Bryson!
