Montgomery pastor indicted on sex abuse charges
A Montgomery pastor has been indicted by a grand jury on sex abuse charges.
According to court records obtained by Action 8 News, 61-year-old Gregory Sheldon Cannon, of Montgomery, is charged with 1st degree sexual abuse and 1st degree sodomy.
The indictment doesn’t specify the allegations, but says Cannon subjected the victim to sexual contact by “forcible compulsion.”
According to the church’s website, Cannon has been the pastor at Rice Temple A.O.H. Church of God since 2003.
Cannon is currently in the Montgomery County Detention Facility on no bond. An Aniah’s Law hearing is scheduled for May 28.
