Safe from the Storm: How hurricanes affect Central Alabama
You may think that being in Central Alabama would protect us from the effects of tropical weather. But we can and do receive damage.
When hurricanes hit on the Gulf Coast, their strength determines how severe the effects will be for us. Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and Hurricane Opal in 1995 are two storms that caused damage far inland.
