An Active Weather Pattern Over The Holiday Weekend

The unofficial start to summer is underway!   Temps will continue to climb and we should feel 90 plus degree heat over the long holiday weekend.  Also, moisture will be increasing and the chance for scattered showers and storms will return.

The air mass over us will support scattered showers and t-storms to develop but we definitely don’t see anything close to a washout.  Scattered showers or t-storms will be possible during the afternoon heating but there will also be complexes of storms moving into the area at times.  Some of the storms will be capable of producing strong to possibly damaging winds along with very heavy downpours.

Looks like a frontal boundary will be approaching the region Monday.  This boundary will help ignite showers and storms on Memorial Day.  Clouds and rain activity would also impact temps and that could help knock the heat down a bit in spots.  The frontal system will push through and we will get a break in the heat behind the boundary. We expect temps to drop in the mid 80s for highs and overnight lows fall into the lower 60s most of next week.
