Alabama State Wins Back-to-Back SWAC Commissioner’s Cups

Alabama State Athletics has clinched two out of three Southwestern Athletic Conference 2023-24 all-sports awards.
The Hornets have now secured the James Frank Commissioner’s Cup and the Sadie Magee/Barbara Jacket Award for the second consecutive year.
This marks the eighth time in the past 10 years that ASU has claimed the Commissioner’s Cup, an award given based on performance across SWAC men’s and women’s sports. The Magee/Jacket Award, won by ASU for the 10th time in 12 years, is granted to the best women’s athletic program in the conference, while the C.D Henry Award honors the best men’s program. Texas Southern won the C.D. Henry award this year. Alabama State finished fourth.
SWAC Championships in women’s bowling, golf, track and field, as well as in both women’s and men’s tennis, bolstered ASU’s campaign this athletic season.
