Auburn’s Megan Schofill received the low amateur at the U.S. Women’s Open at the Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. After 72 holes of golf, Schofill carded a score of 292 (+12) and finished the event tied with Asterisk Talley and Catherine Park for lowest amateurs in the field and in a tie for 44th place on the leaderboard.

“It was a great experience and a good learning experience for me to just learn what I need to work on in my game and what’s good in my game. It was great to be able to make the cut and play on the weekend to see what those nerves are like, what changes in the golf course and what changes in the mindset. Overall it was a great experience, a great week and I’m really happy to tie low amateur honors. Looking forward to building from this week,” says Schofill.

In the opening round on Thursday, Schofill posted a round of even-par (70.) In round two on Friday, Schofill posted 1-over for a 36-hole score of 141 (+1). So at the conclusion of her first two rounds the five-time All-SEC selection was tied for fifth place and was one of four amateur players to make the 36-hole cut. Schofill is now the first former Tiger to accomplish this since Candace Schepperle at the 2009 U.S. Women’s Open at Saucon Valley Country Club in Pennsylvania.

Schofill finished up play over the weekend with a 77 (+7) on Saturday and a 4-over 74 in Sunday’s final round.

Schofill is now the 10th Tiger to participate in the event and now also holds the record of best all-time finish of any Tiger at the U.S. Women’s Open.
