Balloons released in memory of gun violence victims in Montgomery

A balloon launch Friday evening at City Hall in downtown Montgomery honored and remembered victims of gun violence over the past year.

Several hundred friends and family members of victims of gun violence gathered to launch orange and white balloons into the sky in memory of their loved ones.

The Hispanic community has been devastated by the murders of a father and son and a customer at the Tienda Los Hemanos Grocery Store on Troy highway Tuesday night. The crowd chanted “No more violence” and “Hispanics need Justice”.

As Action 8 News has reported, a $5,000 reward is being offering in hopes of solving the triple homicide.

They listened to the mayor and city council members promise to bring those responsible for the killings to justice.

There have been more than 200 gunshot victims treated at Montgomery emergency rooms since January and 30 homicide victims so far this year.

City Hall will be lit up with orange and white colors to honor victims of gun violence.
