MPD investigating shoot out between two men at Sturbridge apartment complex Monday night
Some scary moments for people hanging out near the pool at the Sturbridge Commons Apartment Complex last Monday night (6/3/24) as they had to duck for cover when shots were fired. A man who wishes to remain anonymous talked exclusively to Action 8 News. He told us he came to the apartments to grill out burgers with friends in the pavilion area when a guy started shooting a handgun. He and the three other people he was with had to jump over fences and hedges to get away from the gunfire.
The witness said, “Everyone just kind of scattered, even me and my wife. We kind of almost ran in separate directions because of the sheer panic. The guy, from what I could tell because I was kind of watching him, I saw him fire off the rounds and the smoke go up and he ran around the office building and turned corner chasing the other guy.”
He says two men were shooting back and forth at each other, and then one of the men jumped into a vehicle and fled the scene. He says the police came about 15 minutes later. MPD tells us that no one was injured in the shooting, and there were no reports of property damage. AÂ spokesperson for MPD says they are investigating the incident.
