1 dead, 1 injured in Chilton County ATV accident
An ATV accident in Chilton County has claimed the life of a Jemison man and injured another.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says the single-vehicle crash involving an all-terrain vehicle happened around 4:17 p.m. Monday on Chilton County 135 near Chilton County 1038, two miles north of Jemison.
Troopers say 19-year-old Shawn Smith was fatally injured when the ATV he was operating left the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned. Smith was pronounced dead on the scene.
A 16-year-old juvenile, who was a passenger on the ATV, was injured and taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating the crash.
