One of the suspects in the shooting that paralyzed a woman arrested in Autauga County
One of the suspects in the shooting that paralyzed a woman in Montgomery in April is back behind bars.
According to court records, on or about May 22, 19-year-old Ji’Mecya Ford knowingly obtained or exert unauthorized control over a Glock 19 9mm handgun with the intent to deprive the owner of the property. Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson tells Action 8 News that the incident took place at a residence in the city limits.
Ford, along with four other suspects, are charged in the shootout that happened around 1:00 p.m. on April 12 in the 5500 block of Atlanta Highway. The gunfire struck Amy Dicks as she was sitting in her car, leaving her paralyzed from the chest down.
Along with Ford, the other suspects are 20-year-old Michael Johnson, 22-year-old Javaris Anderson, 20-year-old Je’Kwon Foster, and 18-year-old Tyrone Davis, Jr.
Ford is charged with 2nd degree Theft of Property for the Prattville case and is currently in the Autauga County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
Montgomery County District Judge J.R. Gaines has issued an order to hold Ford in custody until a hearing regarding her bond in the April 12 shooting.
