Minimal rain chances and increasing heat through Saturday
Wednesday was another pleasant June day across central and south Alabama. The afternoon heat was tolerable, with high temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Humidity was low enough that peak heat indices were also only in the mid to upper 80s. Despite some clouds at times, our area was rain-free Wednesday. Wednesday night looks mostly clear, dry, and mild with lows in the upper 60s.
A handful of stray showers or storms appear possible Thursday afternoon. However, they remain few and far between. Rain remains brief for the locations that see it. Otherwise, the sky remains partly to mostly sunny. Temperatures trend hotter, with highs in the low 90s. Friday and Saturday look rain-free and hotter. Afternoon temperatures reach the mid 90s Friday, and perhaps upper 90s Saturday.
Heat indices likely remain below 105° Friday and Saturday afternoon. Father’s Day may be less hot, thanks in part to isolated daytime showers and storms. Much of next week could be less hot too, with high temperatures closer to 90°. Isolated to widely scattered showers and storms appear possible Monday. However, the rain chance could be very low Tuesday through Thursday.
