Child drowns in Opelika

Opelika police are investigating a child’s drowning.

Police say they received a call about a possible drowning at a location on Pepperell Parkway just after 4:30 this afternoon.

When first responders arrived, they found the child unresponsive. Police say life-saving measures were started, and the child was taken to East Alabama Medical Center where the child was pronounced dead.
