Whitfield Regional Hospital & UAB launch Tele-ICU in Demopolis
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis partners with UAB — to launch a new high-tech Tele-ICU program at the hospital.
The new Tele-ICU service uses state-of-the-art secure remote technology to allow patients to get specialized care from a UAB specialist.
The service utilizes a high definition camera, microphone and speaker system — to monitor intensive care patients.
“Their nurses and their physicians are literally monitoring our ICU patients around the clock,” said Whitfield CEO Douglas Brewer.
“And they’re in direct contact with both our hospitalists as well as our nurses to ensure that they get basically the same care they can get in a UAB facility in downtown Birmingham.”
The Tele-ICU program went live at Whitfield Regional Hospital this week.
