Alabama State’s Robert Clark inducted into the African American Sports Legends Hall of Fame
Alabama State Assistant Golf Coach, Robert Clark, was inducted into the African American Sports Legends Hall of Fame in Toledo, Ohio.
Clark began his golf career back in 1965. During the early years of his career Clark was able to accomplish serval things like becoming the first African American PGA Professional in the state of Oregon. Flash forward to 2011 and Clark began coaching golf at Alabama State where he has helped lead the Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams to a combined 12 SWAC titles.
Clark hoping that his story can help inspire other young people to follow and pursue their dreams.
“You know you have to play the best hand you’ve got and that’s what I tried to do and you know people can do anything they want in America, but you have to be vigilant, you can’t give up, and you might find that no one is rooting for you but you, so you root hard and you keep going,” says Clark.
