Boil water advisory lifted in Dallas County

23dallascountyResidents and businesses in Dallas County no longer have to boil water.

Officials with the Dallas County Water and Sewer Authority tell Action 8 News that they have lifted the boil water advisory after bacteriological samples came back clear.

The first leak was discovered Sunday night that was caused by a damaged fire hydrant, DCWSA said in a statement. The resulting water pressure loss, followed by sudden pressure changes likely caused more leaks, it said.

DCWSA said that due to leaks and the overall age of the system, an estimated 36 million gallons of water leaked from Sunday through late Tuesday afternoon.

DCWSA serves 1,350 residential and business customers in Dallas County.
