Benefit ride held for woman who was paralyzed during shooting

Dozens of drivers revved up their engines Saturday to raise money for a local woman who was hit and paralyzed by gunfire on Atlanta Highway in April.

The benefit ride for Amy Dicks started at the Montgomery County Community Center and went through Grady and Ramer.

The proceeds donated from the riders will help with medical expenses for Amy, who has been recovering in a hospital in Atlanta.

In April, Amy Dicks was hit by gunfire while innocently sitting in her car at a stoplight near Red Lobster. Five people have been arrested and charged in that case.

Saturday’s event also included multiple giveaways, kids activities and musical entertainment.
