Very hot, a few showers Sunday; Better rain chances next week
Saturday was a very hot day across central and south Alabama. High temperatures were in the mid to upper 90s. Fortunately, it was a dry heat- peak heat indices were not much higher than air temperatures. Saturday night cools down with lows in the low 70s and a mainly clear sky. Sunday looks partly to mostly sunny and very hot again, with highs in the mid to upper 90s.
Again, peak heat indices likely remain below heat advisory criteria of ~105°. A few brief showers appear possible during the afternoon. However, most locations remain dry. Rain chances rise early next week. Isolated to widely scattered daytime showers and storms appear possible Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday feature the best chances for scattered showers and storms.
Monday and Tuesday remains hot, with highs in the mid 90s. Better rain chances Wednesday and Thursday may hold high temperatures in the low 90s. Rain remains possible Friday through next weekend. However, coverage looks lower. High temperatures may creep back into the mid 90s next weekend.
