Salvation Army in Montgomery welcomes its new leader
The Salvation Army of Montgomery has welcomed its newest leader and this one is here to stay.
The newest commanding officer, Capt. Thomas Johnson, just recently moved to the City of Montgomery only a week ago from Columbus, Mississippi, where he was their organizations leader. He is originally from Louisiana.
Captain Johnson has many plans ahead for the Salvation Army in Montgomery. Those plans include reestablishing the organization and its services with the community, finding a permanent location for their headquarters, and updating their homeless shelter program to fit their permanent residence.
Captain Johnson knows that they can’t do it all alone.
“I promise this city that I’m not going to stop until Montgomery Salvation Army is back to where we know it can be,” stated Captain Johnson. “All I’m asking is that the community will come along side me and lead us in the right direction. If we failed in areas where we needed improvement, then let’s have a chat. Let’s talk about that. We can talk about it, we can move from it, and come up with ways in which we can improve.”
The Salvation Army has temporarily moved to 4250 Lomac Street, but they have told us they have narrowed down their search to a handful of locations to choose from.
