Thieves hit Montgomery church’s donation center
A Montgomery church’s donation center was burglarized over the Fourth of July weekend.
The Beacon Center on Gaston Avenue is part of Metropolitan United Methodist Church. It serves about 125 households a day with food and other services.
Pastor Richard Williams, who is the executive director of the Beacon Center, told Action 8 News equipment was stolen that was worth about $4,000. But he says it will not stop them from offering their services.
“What we are not going to allow is we are not going to allow these bad actors to determine what the outlook is for the Beacon Center,” Rev. Williams said. “What we know is that our work is called to greater and we will continue to do that work, and so we are resilient in this season.”
If you’d like to help the church, it is accepting monetary donations to help replace the items lost. It could also use more plastic bags and volunteers for the ministries.
