Cosby Family Searches for answers in Cold Case
The Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Department is looking for answers following a cold case that happened in the small quiet town of Rutledge– nearly ten years ago.
The thirteenth of June 2016 Mr. Earl Cosby was murdered in this small shed used for an office at his car dealership.
Authorities say on the night of Mr. Earl’s murder a white car was parked just outside of these gate. That car could belong to an unknown female who has yet to bee located.
“Mr. Earl was a habit person”, says Mayor Steve Phillips. “Everyday he was at the same spot at the same time no matter what. Well he hadn’t come by and she was worried, called the sheriff they sent a deputy out there and the light was out and the door locked.”
After Mr. Cosby failed to visit with his ex wife that evening she became worried and called the sheriff’s department for assistance.
That’s where they found Mr. Cosby alongside his desk with a single bullet wound. Now, nearly ten years later the Rutledge Mayor is hoping that someone will come forward with information.
Crenshaw County Sheriff Terry Mears tells Action 8 news that he came into office after Mr. Cosby’s murder but is working to find answers in this investigation.
