Mile markers coming to Autauga Creek
Mile markers are soon coming to Autauga Creek in Prattville.
The Alabama Scenic River Trail handed off the mile markers to the Autauga Creek Improvement Committee during a ceremony Wednesday.
The Mile Marker program, in collaboration with Jacksonville State University, enhances river safety by placing standardized signage along waterways, similar to highway signs.
Officials say the markers help local emergency responders improve response times, increasing safety for all water enthusiasts.

The mile markers provided by ASRT’s program will enhance people’s paddling experience on Autauga Creek, ensuring greater user confidence and safety on the water.
“We are delighted to have the opportunity to continue our relationship with the Autauga Creek Improvement Committee in this way,” said Andrew Szymanski, Executive Director of the Alabama Scenic River Trail. “We appreciate all they’ve done to get more people out on Alabama waters. Autauga Creek is an amazing resource in the Prattville area. We cannot wait to see how many more people can enjoy this community resource with these mile markers.”
