Very hot, isolated storms Sunday; Rain chances rise next week
Saturday was a very hot day across central and south Alabama. High temperatures were in the mid and upper 90s. Actual air temperatures were near 100° in a couple locations. Fortunately, humidity was fairly low, so peak heat indices were in the upper 90s to low 100s. Our area was mainly rain-free throughout the afternoon, and that remains the case Saturday night. The sky becomes mostly clear with lows in the low to mid 70s.
Sunday looks like another very hot day. High temperatures range from the mid to upper 90s. Isolated showers or storms appear possible during the afternoon. However, many locations remain rain-free with a partly to mostly sunny sky. Rain chances increase next week. Daytime showers and storms remain isolated to widely scattered Monday and Tuesday.
However, rain coverage increases Wednesday, and looks highest late next week. Meanwhile, temperatures remain very hot, with highs still in the mid 90s Monday through Wednesday. However, the heat may back down due to higher rain chances Thursday and Friday. Highs may remain in the low 90s each day. The heat may stay down a bit next weekend too while rain chances remain elevated.
