Still hot early this week, but rain chances trend up through Friday
Sunday was another very hot day across central and south Alabama. High temperatures soared into the upper 90s in many locations. Dannelly Field in Montgomery hit 100°, a day after hitting 99° Saturday. Fortunately, heat indices were mainly below 105° Sunday afternoon. There was no heat advisory for our area. Also, isolated showers and storms cooled some of west Alabama down. Rain fades away Sunday night, with lows in the mid 70s.
The heat stays up early this week, with highs in the mid 90s Monday through Wednesday. Heat indices could be above 100°. Meanwhile, rain chances rise this week. Showers and storms become widely scattered Monday and Tuesday afternoon. Rain coverage could be even higher late this week and next week. That could curb the afternoon heat, with high temperatures for most back in the low 90s during that time.
