Auburn and Purdue Men’s Basketball to Face off in Birmingham
Several weeks ago, Auburn men’s basketball head coach Bruce Pearl teased a big matchup in Birmingham. Pearl said it would be a big opponent that could sell out Legacy Arena. Well, how about Purdue?
The Tigers have inked a two-year deal with the reigning national runner-up to play in 2024 and 2025.

They’ll face off with the Boilermakers this upcoming season on Dec. 21 before heading to Indianapolis in 2025.
But Purdue’s not the only Final Four opponent Auburn will face next year. The Tigers could face up to three teams who made it to the semifinals last year: Purdue, Alabama and UConn.
The Tigers will play their annual conference home-and-home with Alabama. They could also match up with reigning national champion UConn in the Maui Invitational. Both teams are playing in the tournament from November 25 to 27.
Here’s what Auburn has released so far about its 2024-25 non-conference schedule:
- Nov. 25-27: Maui Invitational in Lahaina, Hawaii
- Dec. 4: at Duke for SEC/ACC Challenge
- Dec. 21: vs. Purdue at Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham
