Montgomery Chamber hosts panel to address crime concerns
The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce held a panel discussion Monday to address concerns on crime in the Capital City.
As part of the “Around the Table Series,” the discussion allowed Chamber member businesses to hear from law enforcement and judicial leaders.
The panelists included Montgomery Interim Police Chief Jim Graboys, Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama Jonathan Ross and many more.
The panel was held on the Interim Chief Graboys’ first day on the job.
“I’m gonna be hitting the ground running and pursuing every possible option and partnership and measure that I can pursue that will help improve things,” said Interim Chief Graboys.
Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Anna Buckalew believes the panel is a step in the right direction.
“I think it’s a major accomplishment to bring together this many leaders,” said Buckalew. “The great part of that is they all want it to be here. They wanted to come together, so that just tells you there are leaders in key positions in this community that want to work together and they are working together. The problem is the rest of the community doesn’t know what they’re doing and that they are working to solve these problems.
Buckalew says they are planning to have more discussions in the future.
