Montgomery police officer charged, relieved of duty

The Montgomery Police Department has announced that an off-duty officer has been charged with harassment.

The department says it has started disciplinary proceedings against 43-year-old police officer Cephus Dixon. 

As a matter of transparency, MPD says it relieved Dixon of duty and placed him on administrative duties today, after being made aware of the criminal charges.

Dixon, who was assigned to the Patrol Division, joined MPD in 2014.
