Non-profits partner to host STEAM summer camp in Camden
From the West Alabama Newsroomโ
A group of Wilcox County children are taking part in two weeks of STEAM learning activities โ at a summer camp in Camden.
Black Belt Housing Authority partnered with Estellaโs Brilliant Bus โ to host itโs first STEAM summer camp.
โWe want to expose these kids at an early age with STEAM and STEM. So they can have good careers, have productive lives, and they can be resources, and get good jobs to help us in the Black Belt area,โ said Rev. Dave Fulford, Jr.
Officials say exposure to Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math โ is essential for students in todayโs high-tech world.
โBeing introduced to it early you begin to say wait a minute, maybe I can be an engineer. Maybe I can be a mathematician. Maybe I can be a scientist. And we need more of our under represented students to get into these fields,โ said Natalie Wells Tibbs.
Estellaโs Brilliant Bus provides educational training in Florida โ North Carolina โ Tennessee โ Kentucky โ and Alabama.
