Five people, including four children, killed in shooting in West Blocton

Five people, including four children, were killed in a shooting Thursday night in West Blocton.

Court records say 32-year-old Brandon Kendrick was arrested on multiple counts of capital murder for the death of his wife and four children. The children were all under the age of 14. The victims were shot in the head with a handgun, according to a document filed with the arrest warrant.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says they shootings happened at approximately 10PM in the 1000 Block of Greentree Drive. They say the victims included a 2-year old, two 6-year-olds and a 9-year-old, along with his 24-year-old wife, Kelsey Kendrick. Of the  four juveniles, two were Kendrick’s children, and the other two were relatives.

WBMA-TV in Birmingham reported that Kendrick remained at the scene and law enforcement took him into custody without a struggle.

Kendrick has been booked into the Bibb County Jail with no bond.  

West Blocton is in Bibb County, about 40 miles southwest of Birmingham.
