The Hub, consolidated homeless center, opens in Montgomery
The city of Montgomery and Montgomery County are opening a new consolidated center to help the homeless, called The Hub.
It is located at the Ministry About People (MAP) Center on East Delano Avenue, just off of South Court Street.
The Hub is being funded by $2 million in American Rescue Plan Act federal funds. More than a dozen local organizations are working with the city and county to offer mental health resources, workforce development, GED, family guidance, laundry and food, all for free and all in one place.
“We have all been looking for solutions,” Pastor Ken Austin, who is the executive director of the MAP Center, told Action 8 News. “This is the solution and it’s happening here in Montgomery.”
“This is an opportunity for us to show love and radical hospitality to our neighbors because everyone deserves the right to have a safe and quality place to lay their head down at night,” Pastor Richard Williams, the executive director of The Beacon Center, said.
