Preparations underway for 10th annual Stuff the Truck food drive for Montgomery students

Tie & Doll, Action 8 News, Winn-Dixie and our other partners are preparing for the 10th annual Stuff the Truck food drive to benefit needy students in Montgomery Public Schools.

We will be collecting non-perishable food that will go into backpacks for students in need who may not get enough to eat at home.

Each year, members of the Tie & Doll youth leadership group and Action 8 News work with the folks at the Sturbridge Winn-Dixie on Vaughn Road to collect food and cash donations outside the store.

Last year, we collected 6,600 pounds of food. That’s more than three tons!

Drop off your donations on Saturday, August 24, from 10AM-2PM at the front of the Sturbridge Winn-Dixie located at 7946 Vaughn Road. We’re looking for breakfast foods, snacks and lunch items that children enjoy eating and take little preparation — cereal bars, juice boxes, canned pasta, baked beans, raisins, pretzels, applesauce and the like.
