Police: Millbrook couple arrested after three-year-old daughter tests positive for drugs
Millbrook police say a couple faces charges of chemical endangerment of a child after their three-year-old daughter tested positive for drugs.
Police Chief P.K. Johnson says his office received information from the Elmore County Department of Human Resources about a child endangerment case. He says detectives were told that a Millbrook couple, later identified as 29-year-old Hollie Moen and 31-year-old Mitchell L. Harrison, had both tested positive for methamphetamine and marijuana during a DHR investigation.
Johnson said that DHR had also had their 3-year-old daughter test positive for methamphetamine, marijuana and amphetamine.
Thursday, Johnson said both Moen and Harrison were arrested and taken to the Elmore County Jail, where they were placed into custody under a $15,000 bond.
“Because this case involves a minor child, I am limited in what I can comment on, but I will say that the child in this case has been removed from the custody of the parents by DHR officials and placed in the temporary care and custody of a responsible family member until other arrangements can be made,” Johnson said.
“We encourage anyone that is aware of any similar situations involving a child at risk, please report it to the proper authorities, be it law enforcement or the Department of Human Resources. Things like this must be addressed for the safety and welfare of those who cannot defend themselves.”
