Man charged with attempted murder in Pike County shooting
A man faces an attempted murder charge after a shooting in Pike County.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office says it was called to the 1200 block of County Road 3339 yesterday at about 2PM. At the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was flown to a Montgomery hospital in critical condition.
Investigators say they learned the suspected shooter was 49-year-old Richard Jason Brown of Lapine. They say they found his car near his home in the 300 block of Posey Road in Crenshaw County.
The sheriff’s office says after an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team responded to the location along with Crenshaw County Investigators and Alabama State Troopers.
The sheriff’s office says the Special Response Team called Brown out of the home using public address speakers from their vehicles. Shortly after the communication was made, Brown came to the front door and peacefully surrendered.
Brown is being held on $200,000 bond.
