From the West Alabama Newsroom–
Summer break has come to an end for several area school districts.
Students in the Perry County School district were among those who went back to school Monday.
A sense of excitement and optimism about the new school year — fueled the first day.
School officials say the goal for the year is to build on the gains made from last year.
The district is also providing students with more access to cosmetology — health sciences — auto — welding — and advanced placement classes.
“I’m very pumped up for it. And waiting to see what comes and the accomplishments that comes with it,” said FMS senior David Dallas.
“They are energized and ready to go. The atmosphere is conducive to learning on both campuses, the first day of school, the community support,” Superintendent Dr. Marcia Smiley.
The Perry County school district has two Pre-K to 12 schools.
Francis Marion School in Marion — and RC Hatch School in Uniontown.
