Toyota of Montgomery presents van to Amy Dicks, who was left paralyzed after shooting
Amy Dicks, who was left paralyzed when she was caught in the crossfire during a shootout between people in two vehicles on Atlanta Highway, has received a handicapped-accessible van from a Montgomery car dealership.
More than a dozen employees at Toyota of Montgomery gathered Monday afternoon to present Dicks with a 2024 Toyota Sienna Van. Dicks was even able to pick out the color of the vehicle.

She just returned home to Montgomery County after months of hospitalization and rehabilitation in Georgia. The van will be used to transport Dicks to physical therapy and doctors’ appointments as she learns to navigate life without the use of her legs.
Workers at Toyota of Montgomery learned of Dicks’ situation and decided they had to get involved.
“We became aware of Amy’s tragic situation and the immense challenges she’s facing,” Toyota of Montgomery General Manager Chuck Easters said. “We felt a profound sense of responsibility to act. Our dealership is committed to supporting our community, and we saw this as a meaningful way and a tangible way to make a difference in Amy’s life.”
“It’s day-to-day, but I am feeling good,” Dicks said. “I’m glad to be home in my own bed with my family, so it can only get better from here.”

Dicks said she is thankful for the prayers and support from so many people in the community.
“My church family at Landmark Church of Christ in Montgomery, my friends and family and even people that I don’t know. I have almost 6,000 people following me on my Make It Weird Facebook page that have prayed for me continually, and I really think that the power of prayer has kept me in good spirits.”
Dicks’ story has been covered extensively on Action 8 News and has captured the hearts of the Montgomery community.
