Showers & T-storms Returning Late Week!

High pressure will be the dominate weather feature over the area most of this week.  It’s going to be a mainly hot and dry setup that allows temps to hover in the mid to upper 90s for afternoon highs.  Another frontal system will approach the area late week and this system will return the chance of scattered showers and t-storms.

In the meantime, it’s typical August conditions around here.  Fortunately, the air is still some what dry and that helps keep the feels like temps in check for now.  This will change as the week progresses and it will begin to feel not only hot but rather humid as well.  Since the air is dry, rain chances will continue slim to none through at least Thursday.

We head into the latter half of the week with a frontal boundary moving into the deep south.  This boundary will help kick off a return of scattered showers and t-storms.  These will be mainly the afternoon into the early evening variety.  Temps will manage mid to upper 90s for highs and heat indices will climb above 100 degrees again.  Scattered showers and t-storms will be around Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Some of these could impact your outdoor plans during the afternoon hours.

Down in the tropics we’re tracking Tropical Storm Ernesto located near Puerto Rico.  The storm is forecast to become a hurricane and hopefully stay east of the Bahamas as it makes a track westward.  All indications are the tropical system will turn north and then northeast and not be a threat to the U. S. east coast.  Bermuda might not be so lucky but there’s several days before it would be impacted, if at all.
