High School Football Preview: Trinity
Trinity football reached the 3A quarterfinals last year but have since lost their leading passer, rusher, receiver and tackler. However, as head coach Brian Seymore enters into his second year, he believes the large senior class will step up, potentially leading Trinity to be able to beat every 3A team.
“Kind of arrived late,” Seymore said about joining what felt like a rat race last year. “I think this time feel more comfortable because I think kids are used to the routine, kind of know what to expect.”
Xavier Boswell, a senior wide receiver and safety, praised Seymore’s coaching style.
“Energy, a good sense of humor, laid-back,” Boswell said. “Making sure we do what we’re supposed to, but in a fun way. So we all love the sport, instead of dreading coming to practice.”
The Wildcats think they have the pieces to fill in for the players they lost. They say they plan to emphasize their senior leadership.
“Whenever you’re kind of tired or cramping up, you look around, you got all your guys,” senior safety and running back Bo Stewart said. “Your senior guys that you know are experienced and let us know what they’re doing. You got confidence in them. We’re all very united, and that kind of that friendship is what championship teams have. And I think that’s what we have that really, it’s gonna push us far this year.”
