Volunteers needed for Buckmasters Expo in downtown Montgomery

FILE – Buckmasters Expo in downtown Montgomery

The annual Buckmasters Expo draws plenty of fans of the outdoors to downtown Montgomery each year. This year, the event is also looking for volunteers to help with canned food donations.

The event highlights hunting, fishing and everything outdoors. This year, there are more than 300 booths at the Montgomery Convention Center, with bull-riding, pig races, an archery competition and plenty of other activities.

Admission is a can of food or a $1 donation. The food will go to Friendship Mission, which helps the homeless in our area and runs a soup kitchen.

That’s where the volunteers come in. People are needed to collect the canned goods and get them to the trucks outside the Convention Center.

Friendship Mission is looking for people to commit to a two-hour shift on these days and times:

Friday: 2:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 8:45 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Sunday: 9:45: a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Greeters are needed to help welcome Expo visitors and collect the donations and strong people to roll shopping carts full of canned food to trucks and unload the cans from the carts onto the trucks.
