Severe storms possible Sunday; Dry, less humid early next week

Saturday was another hot August day, with high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. Fortunately, storms were in greater supply during the afternoon, which took a bite out of the heat for many locations. Rain quickly faded away Saturday evening. The rest of the night looks dry with a mostly clear sky and lows in the low to mid 70s.

Sunday morning looks dry and sunny, but storms return during the afternoon. Coverage remains scattered, so some locations may miss out on rain. However, some of Sunday’s storms may become strong to severe. The storm prediction center places a slight (level 2/5) severe risk across nearly all of our area. Storms may produce strong wind gusts in addition to heavy rain and frequent lightning.

Rain remains possible Sunday evening, but showers and storms come to a close Sunday night. A “cold” front pushes through our area by early Monday morning. Our weather looks nice Monday through Wednesday, with sunshine and lower humidity. Afternoon temperatures may decrease a bit, but high temperatures likely still range from the low to mid 90s. Although, overnight lows may be in the 60s at least Monday and Tuesday night.
