High School Preview: Brewbaker Tech flag football
Brewbaker Tech flag football season comes off its first-ever season. The Rams made it all the way to the quarterfinals and only lost one girl to graduation. Now, they say they’re ready to shock the world.
Kevin Tarver, Brewbaker Tech flag football head coach, said, “We actually have two really great quarterbacks this year, so it’s going to be an interesting battle going into the fall to see who takes the number one position. But the beauty of it is, they’re both phenomenal athletes, so even if one takes it over, we’re going to find openings for the other.”
The two players are returning starting quarterback, senior Taliyah July and sophomore Tessa Wilburn.
Wilburn is one of many newcomers to the team this fall.
“We have more people this year,” Brewbaker Tech flag football senior safety Ariyana Simon said. “We have more talent. We’re just more experienced, so we’re all-around better.”
The Rams say they are ready to go even further than the quarterfinals.
“Be ready to be shocked, because this is a really special team,” Tarver said. “The other coaches and I have high hopes for what this team has the possibility of accomplishing. So if you have a chance, come out and see us.”
