High School Preview: Prattville flag football
Prattville girls’ flag football enters its second season this fall. The Lions are coming off a semifinals appearance, and now that they know the game, the girls say they’re hungry for more.
“The first game we played Opelika,” said Prattville junior wide receiver and linebacker Lanieya Page, “we heard some great stuff about them and how they went far and how they did very well. So we were a little intimidated, but we got in there and we did what we were told. We all worked together, kept each other up, and we took that game home.”
Prattville junior safety Emma Kate Gunn said winning that game started everything.
“We’re more than confident that we can go as far as we did last year, and even farther,” she said.
After the run the Lions made last season, they only lost two seniors to graduation.
“Having everybody back is great,” said Prattville flag football head coach Brian Pittman. “Also, we’ve probably added another 10 to 12 players, which is going to add a lot of depth so we don’t have everybody having to play both sides of the ball the whole game. I’m excited to see that.”
