1 dead, 2 injured in Coosa County crash

23coosacountyA two-vehicle accident in Coosa County has claimed the life of a 16-year-old juvenile and injured two others.

Troopers say the crash happened around 1:10 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Coosa County 150 and US 231, approximately five miles south of Sylacauga.

The teenager was fatally injured when the 2021 Nissan Altima the teen was driving was struck by a 2003 Freightliner tractor-trailer. Troopers say the teen was pronounced dead on the scene.

A 17-year-old, who was a passenger in the Altima, was also injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The driver of Freightliner was also injured and transported to Russell Medical Center in Alexander City for treatment.

ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating the cause of the crash.
