New building under construction at JE Hobbs Elementary School

A Wilcox County elementary school is still recovering from a fire. It caused major damage to the main building on the campus.
A new building is under construction at JE Hobbs Elementary School.
It will replace all the classrooms and offices the fire destroyed.
It will also house the school’s Media Center — and improve student safety on the campus.
“What’s unique about this new building is that it will be connected through corridors to all of the other buildings,” said Superintendent Dr. Andre Saulsberry.
“So therefore when students enter the building in the morning, they will not have to exit the building for anything basically, unless they’re going to the playground area. Or have specific activities on the outside.”
Construction of the new building — should be finished — by the spring.
