Prattville City Council member dies

The city of Prattville has announced the death of a city council member.

The city said District 1 City Council member Albert Striplin died today.

He had represented District 1 beginning in 2011 and was City Council president from 2016 to 2020. In addition, he served as director and president for over 35 years with the Bank of Prattville and 30 years as president with Key Finance.

The city said Striplin contributed to the community through his involvement in various organizations including the Historic Prattville Redevelopment Authority, Prattville YMCA and Prattville Kiwanis Club.

He was an active member of the Eagle Scouts Troop #25, Autauga County Master Gardeners and First Methodist Church.

“We are forever grateful for his long-time friendship, service, and commitment to the City of Prattville and our community,” the city said in a statement.

In honor and remembrance of Councilor Albert Striplin, the city said flags will be flown at half-staff until sunset on the day of his interment.

The city asks that you keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
