Students at Tallapoosa County school mourn the loss of classmate

Students at Horseshoe Bend School in Tallapoosa County are mourning the loss of a classmate.

The K-12 school, which is located in New Site, has announced that a fifth grade student died Friday evening. The student’s name and details regarding the death were not announced.

The school said it will have counselors and ministers available for students and staff all week.

Monday, fifth grade students were asked to gather in the school’s commons area to eat breakfast together.

The school said that everyone’s thoughts and prayers are going out to those who were touched by the student’s death. It asks that anyone with a specific need should contact school administrators and counselors.
